It was the eve of Kings Day and we could not find a reservation anywhere for our larger group. So glad they could accommodate us. This place a little far from the center of Amsterdam where we were staying but it worked out in the end. Large place so there was plenty of room. The decor was very stylish and we ended up enjoying our meal. 4-26-2023 - Dinner - Table for 7

Ok this place has two sections, the cozy brasserie & the newly opened fine dining area. I’m reviewing the fine dining area. The food is amazing, I think the only other place in the Netherlands that has better food is Ciel Blue & that place has two Michelin stars & is considered the best restaurant in Amsterdam. Everything has nice flavors & is seasoned properly. Usually it’s hard to find a place that has properly seasoned their food in this country! It’s specially hard for expats that are used to more seasoning. Only dish I felt needed more salt was one of the main dishes, I forgot if it was fish or beef. But it was no problem since the waiter made sure to give us a salt shaker right away. The service was very nice and professional, their open kitchen looked clean and they worked so well. The prices are amazing, considering the value of the food you are getting. We did a 8 dinner course (we only have had a small breakfast, we were starving) & were completely satisfied by the end, we couldn’t even order cheese. Our waiter was extremely nice, he mentioned that there is a 10% discount (you can ask at the front desk of the hotel, all the same building) for those who live in the area/Houthaven. I also really enjoy their cocktails and atmosphere. I cannot wait to go back for more! I have added some pictures but trust me everything looked better in real life.

I reserved a table at Vessel restaurant for 3 guests and noted our dietary restrictions ahead, including gluten, dairy and meat avoidance (each diner had different requirements). We enjoyed a very pleasant evening, having differently accommodated tasting menus and wine. In addition, the staff was very friendly and the dining space was nicely designed. We had 2 unforgettable dishes: fish fillet in ginger foam sauce, and a surprising wonderful main course of aubergine "fillet", perfectly made potatoes and a pepper (if I remember correctly) sauce - and words cannot describe how delicious this course actually was.

Unfortunately, I can’t recommend the place. The biggest benefit: you can go there with a big group, and though restaurant hall is a big space, it’s relatively quiet and you can still hear each other. In our case this was beneficial because it took them ages to bring our food. (And we were killing time talking) Waiting time between starter, main and the dessert was more than 45 minutes. Taking into account that we ordered food a day in advance this is not acceptable! Food: I liked the fish carpaccio stater, though the most of the group was disappointed. Well, at least fish was fresh. Most of us didn’t like the main: duck leg wasn’t delicious (not crunchy and juicy), only mushroom sauce was good. Dessert was ok, but you know it’s hard to spoil a dessert.

Hip solid food, not your a leverage sea fare. We had lunch at Vessel. The food and service were good: well garnished, spiced just right, and tasty. The atmosphere is surprisingly cozy for a room the size of a large ship’s hull. There is room for improvement on the quality of the coffee and cakes — those feel out of step with the overal kitchen, making for a lopsided experience: with the main course being what they serve the passengers and dessert and coffee what they feed the sailors. We sat inside because of the rain but a view over the river Ij would probably have improved the coffee experience. All and all would recommend this place for lunch.
